Inspired by Norse mythology, circus artistry and folk music intertwine in a delicate performance about identity and self-confidence.
In Sway & Shadow, we meet circus artist Sarah Lett and violinist Thea Åslund. In this performance, the cyr wheel symbolizes the importance of having an inner space—a personal bubble—where one can reflect and connect with oneself. Listening to our inner voice makes it easier to find our own path in life. Thea’s musical character is inspired by the Norse mythology figure Fylgja (Shadow), a loving, protective guide who helps us navigate life and carries forward the love passed down through generations.
Sway & Shadow is a performance that, through circus and music, seeks to inspire both children and adults to connect with the strength we all carry within us.
Thea Åslund is a folk musician who grew up and studied in Falun before completing her education at Göteborgs universitet. As a freelance musician, she has performed with numerous bands (Ill Wicker, Lyset i Forsen, Världens Band) and has also worked in theatre and toured with Cirkus Cirkör. Currently, she performs with the band Kolonien and shares a role with Samuel “Looptok” in the circus performance Knitting Peace.
Sarah Lett
Originally from Montreal, Sarah Lett graduated from Quebec circus school in 2008 and has since been working internationally with companies such as Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Eloize, Cirkus Cirkör on top of many varietes and co-productions with other artforms. In the last few years, she has been working mainly in Sweden founding her company “The Vessel productions” which is currently creating its 3rd performance, “Grapes & Glory” after “The Vessel” and “Föra & Följa”.
Elias Grind is a multidisciplinary artist who is passionate about creating artistic experiences centered on expression. Through various personal and collaborative projects, Elias weaves together music, film, illustration, and storytelling to craft an innovative artistic universe. His deep interest in electronic music led him to acquire a studio where he now works professionally in music production.
